About the Clay

Firstly, eveything IS dishwasher and microwace safe. So youre good- no need to treat these like artifacts. Theyre stoneware and meant to be used. I don’t glaze a lot of the exterior surfaces just because I love being able to feel the texture of the image. I use two different types of clay. The speckled clay I use is a clay body called “WC606” and its made by Laguna Clay Co.

Any other clay you see is almost guaranteed to be a ceramic slip from Laguna as well. I use mason stains to dye the clay different colors.

Each piece is first formed, then I apply a layer of underglaze while the piece is still damp but firm. I then carve through the glaze to reveal the clay beneath, creating the images on the pieces. Every piece is one of a kind.
